Amna Ilyas has apologised for her viral kick-off stunt video which was doing rounds on social media last week.
The video showed the actor performed a kick-off stunt on young man’s head which went wrong .
However, after the video went viral people bashed Amna and questioned if it needed to be shared on social media.
Responding to the criticism, the actor has posted an apology on Instagram.
The young man Nigel himself stated, “If I’m not hurt, why are you guys getting hurt? With the amount of attention you guys have given me in the last week, it would’ve been better if you guys gave me money instead.”
Nigel also pointed out one specific issue with the reaction to the viral video.
“70% of you said that she kicked a poor house help or worker. Why? Why can’t I be a cousin, brother, or nephew? Just because I’m dark, you assumed that I must be a poor worker… I don’t need help, you do.”
Earlier in 2019, actress and model Amna Ilyas shared her struggle with wanting to be fairer once and highlighted the issue of colourism.
In an interview with BBC Urdu, she revealed that she used fairness creams to become what she believed the industry wanted her to be when she entered it.
She said everyone tried to make her look fairer to meet societal beauty standards; be it the makeup artists through two makeup two tones lighter than her natural shade or other people through editing and Photoshop.
Amna Ilyas shared the directors kept comparing her to fairer actresses. “In the drama serials I worked on, I would often overhear directors on set say my skin tone doesn’t ‘match’ with the other actors in the frame. I found that very strange; of course they don’t match, because there are different people, each with their own personalities and skin.
