American superstar R. Kelly sentenced to 30 years in prison in ‘sex trafficking case’

American R&B superstar R. Kelly has been sentenced to 30 years in jail for sexually abusing his young fans, including children, by misusing his superstardom.
According to the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), American singer R. Kelly was convicted in September last year of being involved in sexual abuse of women and children and human trafficking for two decades.
However, a US court on Wednesday sentenced the singer to 30 years in prison.
The singer’s lawyer, Robert Sylvester, said he would appeal in apex court against the ruling.
It should be noted that R. Kelly was found guilty of human trafficking, child pornography and kidnapping.
The Grammy-winning, multiplatinum-selling songwriter was found guilty last year of racketeering and sex trafficking at a trial that gave voice to accusers who had previously wondered if their stories were being ignored because they were Black women.
R. Kelly had married a 15-year-old girl on the basis of fake documents, while the singer was found guilty of sex trafficking as well as fraudlent.
