KARACHI: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested alleged terrorists involved in serial grenade attacks across Sindh, including Karachi.
CTD Karachi and Mirpur Khas in a joint operation arrested four alleged terrorists linked to the extremist organization Sindh Revolutionary Army.
In June, July and August this year, the Indian Agency RAW was also involved in serial grenade attacks on Rangers and other places in different cities of Sindh including Karachi.
DIG CTD Omar Shahid told a press conference that four alleged terrorists of the extremist organization were arrested from Mirpur Khas who belonged to the extremist organization SRA.
According to CTD officials, the same group was also involved in the attack on the Ehsas Program Center in Liaquatabad, Karachi.
Officials also said that the accused wanted to attack other places and personalities in Karachi. The leader of the group, Asghar Shah, is hiding in Afghanistan. The accused were also being funded from abroad.
It is suspected that some elements of MQM London are also involved in supporting the arrested terrorists.
During the press conference, CTD officials said that the purpose of SRA was to tarnish Pakistan’s image through terrorism. Efforts are underway to arrest the ringleader.
