Singer Ali Azmat has said that bloggers were hired by singers to spread hate against the anthem for Pakistan Super League’s fifth edition.
The artist also stated that those who had previously performed anthems for the tournament had plotted against the song Tayyar Hain, this year’s anthem.
On a programme called Har Lamha Purjosh aired on ARY News, Azmat claimed that all the hate was generated on social media and that it was not “organic” in any way. Waseem Badami, the programme’s host, proceeded to ask him if he was calling out Ali Zafar, however, Azmat said he did not want to name anyone.
Zafar has sung the anthems for the previous versions of the PSL.
In response to Azmat, Zafar posted a video on Twitter with a tone of sarcasm.
“Whatever problem you have in life, whether it’s social, or economic or the failure of a song or an event, there’s only one person responsible for it and that’s me,” he said.
“People are very smart and their opinions should be respected.”
Zafar said that he has always been a big fan of the singer and does not have anything against him.
Azmat, the producer of the anthem, told Badami that people eventually started liking the song.
“The best part of the song was its production phase,” he said.
The singer added that the opening ceremony of the PSL was mismanaged and a lot of artists were disappointed.
He said that with a big event such as the PSL, mismanagement is inevitable.
