AJK govt announces budget with total outlay of over Rs139b

The AJK government has announced a tax-free budget of over 139 billion rupees for the fiscal year of 2020-21.

Presenting the budget at the Legislative Assembly in Muzaffarabad on Thursday, Finance Minister Dr. Najeeb Naqi said over 118 billion rupees were expected as total revenue, while the ongoing expenses were estimated at 115 billion rupees.

72 percent of ADP funds were proposed for the ongoing, while 28 percent were proposed for the new schemes. In the next financial year, 199 schemes would be completed.

The AJK Finance Minister said promoting the cause of Kashmir, preserving good governance, and achieving sustainable development are three of the AJK Government’s top priorities.

He thanked the federal government for allocating funds, despite financial constraints, for the development of liberated territories.

The federal development plan includes a scheme costing more than 3.64 billion rupees for the Indian firing affectees. The Ministry for Kashmir Affairs has proposed around 3 billion rupees for the ongoing schemes.
