The Jani Khel tribe of Bannu, who were protesting against the brutal murder of four youth, has reportedly called off their sit-in following the successful negotiation with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.
Earlier, four bullet-riddled bodies were found buried in a local graveyard in Jani Khel area on March 21. The tribesmen had been protesting against the incident since last week. The protestors had demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits involved in abducting and murdering the victims.
Special Assistant to Chief Minister KP Kamran Bangash on Monday morning announced that both of the parties had reached an agreement.
“The protestors have been told to return,” Bangash wrote on Twitter.
However, the protestors have not dispersed properly and they are still present at Dhami Pull, Bannu, sources confirmed.
According to media reports, the protestors had also decided to march towards Islamabad with the victims’ dead bodies to demand justice for them.
“A press conference will be organised later to release further details,” the adviser announced.
