After Shireen Mazari, Asad Umar also defends Shaukat Tareen’s leak audio call
General Secretary Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Asad Umar has defended former Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen’s leaked audio saying that there was nothing wrong in conversation between Shaukat Tareen and provincial finance ministers Mohsin Laghari and Taimur Saleem Jhagra.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad along with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra, former federal minister Asad said that when the current government was in the opposition, they opposed the approval of FATF laws.
Asad Umar said that when we prepared the laws to save Pakistan from going to the FATF blacklist, these rulers said that they will oppose it until their NAB cases are resolved.
“There is no law in the country as phone tapping is done with the ex-finance minister. The law is being violated,” he said.
Earlier, two alleged audio call of Former Finance Minister Shaukat Tareen, Punjab’s Finance Minister Mohsin Khan Laghari and KP’s Finance Minister Taimur Khan Jhagra regrading sabotaging the IMF’s tranche deal of $1.7 billion leaked.
During the phone call, the former finance minister, Tarin, can be heard directing Mohsin Leghari and Taimur Jhagra to backtrack from the commitment of a provincial surplus given to the IMF.
