ISLAMABAD: Contrary to claim of the Afghanistan’s embassy, Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed on Tuesday said according to the investigation, the daughter of the Afghan ambassador was not abducted and an attempt was being made to discredit Pakistan.
“Any attempt to discredit Pakistan will fail. We want to co-operate in the investigation into the alleged abduction of the Afghan ambassador’s daughter. The government will fight the case,” Sheikh Rashid said.
He said that an FIR was lodged of her abduction, however she was gone. The government wanted the Afghan ambassador’s daughter to be part of the investigation, he added.
The interior minister said that a 700-hour video of Islamabad and Rawalpindi had been watched and 200 car and taxi owners were investigated.
He said all four taxi drivers arrested by police were innocent. The Afghan ambassador should not have gone on basis of one case, he maintained.
According to Hum News sources, Afghan Ambassador Najibullah Ali Khel has left Pakistan with his family for Turkey and other staff has gone to Afghanistan.
The alleged abduction of the Afghan ambassador’s daughter took place on July 16. The case of the incident has been registered at Kohsar police station of Islamabad. The lawsuit, filed on request of the Afghan ambassador, includes sections 354, 365, 506 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code.
In an initial statement, the girl said that she had gone for shopping in a taxi at some distance from home. She boarded another taxi to return, which was stopped shortly afterwards.
“Suddenly a man came and got into the taxi and started torturing me. I fainted due to the violence. When my eyes opened again I found myself dumped pile of dirt in a park,” she said.
On the flip side, according to the government investigation so far, the daughter of the Afghan ambassador came to the market on foot. She took a taxi and went to Khadda Market in Sector 7, Islamabad.
The daughter of the Afghan ambassador took another taxi from Khadda Market and went to Rawalpindi from there according to the footage. The interior Minister said that after going to Rawalpindi, the girl reached Daman Koh from there.
