Karachi: The three-day 1254th urs celebrations of Abdullah Shah Ghazi starts today.
The urs will be held at Abdullah Shah Ghazi’s mausoleum in Clifton from August 22 till August 24. Hundreds of pilgrims from all across Pakistan are expected to attend it.
Abdullah Shah Ghazi is known as the “savior saint” because there are many people who believe that his shrine is the reason Karachi never gets hit by tropical cyclones.
He is said to have been killed by his enemies in a forest, and so his followers decided to bury him on the sandy shores of the city. The shrine of Abdullah Shah Ghazi was built almost 10 centuries ago.
Special arrangements have been made to hold the urs celebrations in a befitting manner this year with high-alert security.
Alternative traffic routes and parking arrangements have been announced by the traffic police.
