MULTAN: Family of Abdul Qavi has detained the infamous cleric and decided to withdraw his title of ‘Mufti’ “until his mental condition improves”.

This was announced by paternal uncle of Abdul Qavi, Abdul Wahid Nadeem, while addressing a press conference in Multan. The decision by his family was taken after his videos with TikToker Hareem Shah went viral on social media.

“We withdraw the family title of ‘Mufti’ from his name until he betters his conducts as it is not only a disrespect to the family but Islam as well,” he said.

The uncle apprised that their grandfather, father, elder brother and other members of the family were called Mufti by people, so was called to Abdul Qavi. However, he said, due to his mental condition he had defiled the title.

“We have stopped Abdul Qavi from interacting with people, seized his mobile phone and decided to keep him protected until he gets psychiatric treatment,” he said.

Earlier this week, a video of Hareem Shah slapping Abdul Qavi had gone viral on social media.

While answering the question regarding her slapping him, Hareem had told the media that Abdul Qavi tried to start vulgar conversation with her.

However, Abdul Qavi had denied the allegations levelled against him and said that he really didn’t know the actual fact of her slapping him.
