A look back at 2022’s controversial statements made by Pakistani celebrities

There is a famous saying that says “think before you speak” but sometimes public figures uttered some shocking statements on record which later went viral online.

Here is the list of Pakistani celebrities who made some shocking statements on record, whether intentional or unintentional but their words were enough to grab the attention of netizens.

Hira Mani

Hira Mani often finds herself in hot water because of her ill-informed statements. In 2022, the actress offended many people with her irresponsible statement about the minor girl who got kidnapped from Karachi.

In her comment, the actress prayed that the minor girl who was kidnapped and Zaheer (the boy who allegedly kidnapped her ) remain together for eternity.

Later she apologised for her ill-informed statement.

Maria B

This year, designer Maria B also made it to the headlines because of her views on Transgender Persons Act.

On many occasions, Maria B said that the term “transgender” is misleading our society, there is a difference between transgenders and intersex people. “Transgender Persons Act has nothing to do with the “real Khuwajasira community”, the designer emphasized.

Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar

The renowned writer Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar mainly remains in the headlines for passing controversial remarks. This year, the writer also passed many shocking remarks but one of the statements which grabbed the attention of netizens was his insensitive comment about divorced women.

In an interview, Khalil-ur-Rehman shared one of the pieces of advice he gave to his wife after getting married.

“I always tell my wife that she is immature right now and so, she should not befriend any woman who has gone through a breakup or gotten divorced. Not to say divorced women are bad but frankly, they can never be happy in your happiness, because they’ve just lost what you have”.

Saba Faisal

Senior actress Saba Faisal made it to the headlines when she brought up her family issues on social media.

Saba shared a video and announced that she has cut ties with her son Salman and his wife Neha. “To everyone who has been abusing me under Neha’s post, I want to say that when a woman like Neha becomes a part of a family – someone who’s as negative as her – then those families fall apart”.

Later, the actress addressed the matter and said she regrets posting videos against her son and daughter-in-law.

Hassan Ahmed

Another celebrity who brought his personal matter on social media is Hassan Ahmed. The actor made a response video against his wife Sunita Marshal as she talked about his struggles at the beginning of his acting career in an interview.

Hassan shared a video on Instagram and said, “My wife Sunita Marshall gave a few opinions which are her own version of events, many of the things are incorrect in them, even if they are correct, they should be kept private. I am a strong man, and it is my choice if I want to share my struggles or not”.

Behroz Sabzwari

Veteran actor Behroz Sabzwari received criticism online for her comment regarding women dressing styles.

In an interview, the actor said, “I have noticed one thing that the dressing of women is not appropriate while sitting on bikes. Some women wear weird clothes which cannot be called appropriate, they are not good at all, the clothes are not only see-through but usually are very tight, it shows home training, women should be fully covered while sitting on the motorbike”.
