90th Kashmir Martyrs Day is being observed today

The Kashmir Martyrs Day is being observed today to commemorate the martyrs of July 13, 1931.
The day is observed on both sides of the Line of Control in India and Pakistan.
As per the All Parties Hurriyat Conference request, the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir will mark the day through complete shutdown.
A march will be carried out towards the Martyrs’ Graveyard at Naqashband Sahib in Srinagar today where the martyrs of 13th July were buried.
Moreover,The special Kashmir Martyrs Day meetings will be held in all major cities including Mirpur, Kotli and Bhimbher in Mirpur division besides Muzaffarabad, Bagh, Rawalakot, Sudhanoti, and Neelam valley and all other small and major towns and cities.

On July 13, 1931 the Dogra troops gunned down 22 Kashmiris in front of the Central Jail Srinagar. A large number of people had gathered outside the jail protesting against the trial of a young man – Abdul Qadeer for treason inside the prison.
Taking to Twitter Prime Minister, Imran Khan said “We stand with Kashmiris on Kashmir Martyrs’ Day & pay tribute to 22 Shuhada of 13July1931, martyred when the Dogra Maharaja’s soldiers fired on peaceful protestors”.
“Kashmiris’ struggle against tyranny & illegal Indian Occupation is steeped in a history of resistance & sacrifice.” he further added.
