KARACHI: Health condition of at least 80 people deteriorated after a gas pipeline burst at a chemical factory in Port Qasim area of Karachi on Friday.
Malir SSP Mohammad Ali Raza confirmed the incident saying that all those present near the pipeline were affected. Repairing of the gas pipeline was underway, he added.
Gas supply to the factory has been suspended and people have been evacuated from its vicinity. Those affected were shifted to Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre (JPMC), Dawn newspaper reported.
JPMC Executive Director Dr Seemi Jamali said emergency had been declared at the hospital. She said only one patient was in critical condition, while others were out of danger, hence discharged after medical checkup.
