PESHAWAR: A 75-year-old man, Shamshad Abdul Hakeem, has trekked 310 km in a bid to promote tourism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He travelled on foot along with his grandson from his village Darosh in Chitral to Tirich Mir in the Himalayan valley in six days.
In a statement, he said that he wanted to promote tourism and invite foreigners through trekking. “I also wanted to tell the youth that fitness is extremely important,” he said adding that foreigners should come to Tirich Mir basecamp to summit the mountains.
Residents of the old man’s village welcomed him back at home with flowers wreath.
