PESHAWAR: At least 60 passengers who arrived at the Bacha Khan Airport, Peshawar, from Dubai have been tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday morning.
The second test was conducted upon their request which also came positive. The passengers had come through a Pakistan International Airline plane and an Emirates plane.
Sources said that the passengers started making a fuss over their reports and said that passengers at Islamabad and Lahore airport were tested negative. They also said that nobody was maintaining social distancing at PIA flight.
It emerged that 32 staff members of the airport were already suffering from COVID-19. So far, 80 passengers who came from abroad recently have been tested positive for the viral infection.
A Rescue 1122 ambulance has been posted at the Bacha Khan Airport. The passengers affected with the virus would be shifted to Police Services Hospital and other hospitals for isolation.
131 more people died of Covid-19 and 4207 new cases surfaced in Pakistan over the last twenty four hours.
According to the latest statistics, 51,130 tests were carried out during this period.
The process of vaccinating people against the virus is continuing smoothly with 4.7 million doses administered so far.
