ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has confirmed its fifth coronavirus case on Monday night. The patient had recently visited Iran.
State Minister of Health Dr Zafar Mirza also confirmed the latest coronavirus case. However, he said, the patient was stable and being looked after. He requested the media to respect privacy of the patient.
“We have now 5th confirmed case of #COVID19 in federal areas. Patient is stable and is being managed well. I request the media to respect the privacy of the patient and the family,” Zafar Mirza tweeted.
The new case has surfaced in Gilgit and the patient is a 45-year-old woman.
She was tested positive during checkup at the National Institute of Health Islamabad. On recommendation of the health department, the education department has decided to shut down private and government educational institutes amid fear of coronavirus. Therefore, all the educational institutes would remain closed till March 7.
Earlier, the advisor to the PM had confirmed four coronavirus cases two out of them were from Karachi. The infection has entered Pakistan through Iran border.
