49 buses for Orange Line BRT offloaded at Karachi port

Sindh Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon on Wednesday said that 49 buses for Orange Line Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) Service have arrived at Karachi port.
Sharjeel Inam Memon uploaded the pictures of buses arriving from China to Karachi on Twitter with a caption, “Shukar Alhamdulillah”.
According to reports, 49 buses will be operated under People’s Intra-city Bus Project and 20 buses under Edhi Orange Line project.
Sindh Minister for Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Memon said the remaining buses would arrive within a month.
Officials of Sindh Transport Department said that Sindh government was bringing 250 buses for Karachi and Larkana. Under the project, more than 200 buses will be run on 6 different routes in Karachi. In the first phase, 50 buses will be run on 2 routes in Karachi. 5 terminals are being set up in Karachi.
Officials said that in the first phase in Karachi, Bus Route 1 will run from Model Colony to Aram Bagh while buses will run on 35 km long ‘Route 3’ from Nagan Chowrangi to Korangi Industrial Area.
According to officials, the project has been named as Sindh Intra-City People’s Bus Service, which will benefit millions of citizens.
Notably, the plan of 250 buses worth Rs 8 billion was approved by former Transport Minister Owais Qadir Shah.
