42nd death anniversary of Ibn e Insha being observed today

KARACHI: The 42nd death anniversary of eminent Urdu poet and travelogue Ibne Insha is being observed on Saturday.
Ibne Insha’s real name was Sher Muhammad Khan and he was born in Jalandhur district of Indian Punjab in 1927. He later migrated to Pakistan.
He was awarded Presidential Pride of Performance Award in 1978. He died on 11th January 1978 in Karachi.

Insha is regarded as one of the best poets and writers of his time. He penned famous ghazals including Insha Ji Utthoo Ab Kooch Karo and Kal Chaudavi ki raat thi, shab bhar raha charcha tera. He also translated a number of Chinese poems into Urdu. He had produced multiple travelogues showcasing his humour instinct.
His other famous literary works include: Awara Gard Ki Diary, Dunya Gol Hey, Ibn Battuta Kay Taqub mein, Chaltay Ho To Cheen Ko Chaliye, Nagri Nagri Phira Musafar, Aap se kya Parda, Khumar e Gandum, Urdu Ki Aakhri Kitaab and Khat Insha Jee Kay.
