 31 killed, 28 others injured in separate road mishaps in Pakistan

CHAKWAL/ CHILAS: At least 31 people have been killed and 28 others wounded in two separate incidents in Pakistan.

Five people were killed and 13 others injured when a trailer and a passenger bus collided on motorway near Kalhar Kahar in Chakwal on Monday. The injured were shifted to hospitals.

The accident took place because of brake failure of the trailer.

In Gilgit, 26 people were killed and 15 others injured when a bus rammed into a roadside hill at Gattidas area in Babusar on Sunday.

According to police sources, the bus was on its way from Skardu to Rawalpindi.

The injured were shifted to Chilas Headquarters Hospital where an emergency had been declared.

Pakistan Army had rescued injured, who met an accident at Babusar road, and transported them to hospitals through military helicopter.

According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), there were 10 army personnel among those who died in the accident.

Twenty six dead bodies were transported to Combined Military Hospital, Gilgit.

President Dr Arif Alvi had expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of human lives in a road accident on Babusar Pass.

The president had prayed for departed souls and early recovery of the injured.

Prime Minister Imran Khan had expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious human lives in Skardu bus accident.

He had commiserated with the bereaved families over the loss of their loved ones and also directed to provide best medical facilities to the injured and prayed for their early recovery.

Governor Gilgit-Baltistan Raja Jalal Hussain Maqpoon had expressed sorrow over the tragic road accident on Babusar Pass.

In his condolence statement , he had prayed for the deceased and early recovery of the injured.

The governor had directed the commissioner Diamer to take steps to provide immediate medical aid to the injured.

He had also asked the Chilas administration to prepare comprehensive report of the incident as well as the rescue operation.
