30 villages submerge as Chenab River overflows
JHANG: At least 30 villages have submerged in Jhang as Chenab River flooded with water on Friday.
Water level of the river is continuously rising after reaching 70,000 cusec. The flood water has entered crops, while streets and roads have also been inundated. The villages have been disconnected from the main city and other areas.
According to a report, 500 people have died after drowning in water of canals or rivers in different incidents the following year across Punjab. Most of the deaths, 34, took place in Sheikhupura. While, 31 people passed away in Rahim Yar Khan, 30 in Faisalabad and 29 in Jhelum.
Rescue 1122 has asked parents to monitor their children and stop them from going to take a bath in river or canal.
