28-year-old ASI martyred in encounter with drug dealers
RAWALPINDI: 28-year-old Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Aslam Farooqi has embraced martyrdom during a clash between police and drug dealers.
The incident took place at Rashid Minhas Road, near Civil Line police station, on Friday (night) .
According to Rawalpindi police spokesman, a drug dealer Majid was also killed during the clash.
Funeral prayers of Shaheed ASI Aslam Farooqi offered on Saturday, (today) at 9:00 AM at Police Lines Headquarters.
The ASI got married three and a half years ago and was a father to a three-year old baby boy.
Moreover,the Inspector General of Police (IG) Punjab Sardar Ali Khan took notice of the incident and directed RPO Rawalpindi to submit a detailed report to him. He ordered him to immediately arrest the suspects involved in it.
Earlier in September, seven soldiers were martyred and five terrorists were shot dead during in an exchange of fire, in South Waziristan .
According to ISPR, an IBO was conducted by security forces in Asman Manza, South Waziristan District where they killed five terrorists in the operation.
Moreover, the exchange of fire led seven soldiers into embracing Shahadat.
Cordon and search operation is still in progress to eliminate any other terrorist found in the area.
The operation was conducted hours after killing of two terrorists during an an IBO carried out by security forces in Datta Khel of the North Waziristan District.
During the operation, security forces also recovered weapons and ammunition from the terrorists’ hideout. This is the fourth reported operation conducted by security forces in two districts of North Waziristan and South Waziristan in less than 10 days period.
