On Monday, an anti-terrorism court in Lahore sent 24 lawyers involved in Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) attack to jail on a 14-day judicial remand.
According to details, the lawyers have filed a bail petitions. They were charged of attacking PIC which had resulted in death of three patients and damage to the hospital’s emergence ward.
On Saturday, December 21st, eight other lawyers were released as prosecution could not prove their involvement in the attack.
The Punjab Bar Council (PBC) has expressed concerns over the delay in the release of all the lawyers arrested for the PIC attack. They have also demanded to remove Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act from their FIRs lodged against them.
They have announced a lock down of the courts all over the province along with protests and sit-in from December 23 till the next hearing
