22nd year without the legend Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan

16th August, 2019 marks 22nd death anniversary of Shahenshah-e-Qawwali Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
The legend Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, son of a famous musician, vocalist, instrumentalist and Qawwal Fateh Ali Khan was born on October 13, 1948 in Faislabad.
Possessing a six-octave vocal range, NFAK could perform at a high level of intensity for several hours. He was also considered one of the greatest singers ever recorded up till now.
His contribution to the music industry is tremendous. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan has a world record for releasing 125 albums.
NFAK’s famous qawwalis are Dum Mast Qalandar Mast, Ali (R.A) Maula Ali (R.A), Yeh Jo Halka Halka Suroor, Mera Piya Ghar Aaya, Allah Hoo, Kinna Sohna Tenu Rab Ne Banaya.
Apart from singing qawwalis, Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan had recited Hamd called Wohi Khuda Hai which was well appreciated along with a national song Mera Paigham Pakistan.
Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan had won many awards globally. In 1987, he was awarded the prestigious Pride of Performance award by the government of Pakistan.
The legend passed away on 16th August 1997 due to Lung cancer. His songs and music are still being listened to and sung all over the world.
