2 killed for resisting mugging attempt in Karachi
In two separate incidents, 2 citizens were killed while 6 others were injured when they tried to resist during robbery attempts in Karachi.
According to police and rescue sources, suspected robbers in Model Colony and Zaman Town areas killed a young shopkeeper and a passerby while resisting during the robbery while 6 people were injured.
SHO Majeed Colony, Majid Korai said that 25-year-old shopkeeper Usman Mushtaq was standing at the counter of his shop near Hazrat Ali Chowk in Kazimabad when armed robbers came to the shop to rob.
He said that as soon as the shopkeeper resisted the robbery attempt, they opened fire, as a result of which the shopkeeper died, while the robbers ran away without taking anything, after which the body of the youth was shifted to Jinnah Hospital for legal proceedings.
On the other hand, Zaman Town SHO Humayun Ahmad Khan said that some suspected robbers looted cash and other essentials from a milk vendor in Sector 48-F area, where the majority of the Bengali population resides.
He said that as soon as the robbers started running away from there, the residents of the area started chasing them. Meanwhile, a 35-year-old passer-by, Muhammad Shafi, pelted stones at the robbers, in return, they fired a shot and killed him. His body was shifted to Jinnah Hospital.
On the other hand, 2 civilians were injured as a result of firing while trying to catch the robbers during a mugging attempt in Liaquatabad No. 4.
The police said that the robbers started firing to escape, as a result of which 50-year-old Shakeel Muhammad and 30-year-old Muzamil were injured, who were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medical treatment.
In another incident, 45-year-old Zulfikar Ali was injured by the robbers when he resisted during the robbery in Landhi area. The injured person was shifted to Jinnah Hospital.
Apart from this, a youth in Landhi 36B was also injured during the robbery resistance, whose age is said to be around 20 years. The injured youth was shifted to Jinnah Hospital for medical assistance.
