1841 new infection cases, 36 deaths due to COVID-19 reported in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The nationwide tally of coronavirus cases has soared to 43,966 with 1841 new cases reported during the last twenty-four hours.
A total of 12,489 patients have so far recovered from the virus whilst the death toll stands at 939 with 36 new deaths reported.
Overall 15,976 cases have so far been detected in Punjab, 17,241 in Sindh, 6,230 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 2,820 in Balochistan, 550 in Gilgit Baltistan, 1,034 in Islamabad and 115 in Azad Kashmir.

Minister for Science and Technology Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has stressed on the need of joint Research and Development among Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and India on coronavirus to deal with the pandemic.
“It was of the utmost importance to calculate the figures of herd immunity in our region which was the dangerous aspect of the virus due to non-availability of its data and research study,” the minister said talking to private news channel.
Fawad Chaudhry said the prediction about the peak period of coronavirus from first to the third week of June was made by a committee of his ministry, headed by Dr Attaur Rehman and comprising seven top scientists.
