170 candidates file nomination papers for Senate elections

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) is all set to complete the process of scrutiny of nomination papers filed for the Senate elections on Thursday (today).

A total of 170 candidates have filed their nomination papers with the Election Commission of Pakistan. These include 29 from Punjab, 39 from Sindh, 51 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 41 from Balochistan and 10 from the federal capital.

They can file appeals against acceptance or rejection of nomination papers on Saturday and the last date for disposing of these appeals is 23rd February.

The revised list of candidates will be published on Feb 24, while the candidates can withdraw their nomination papers on Feb 25.

Polling on the 48 seats will be held on March 3 at the parliament house in Islamabad and the four provincial assemblies.
