16-year-old girl tries to sell her blood to buy a smartphone

In a bizarre incident, a 16-year-old girl in India’s West Bengal tried to sell her blood so that she could buy a smartphone worth INR 9,000.

According to Indian media, a 12th grade student had ordered the smartphone on Sunday via an online shopping app and was going to be delivered on Thursday (today) but she found it difficult to arrange the money to pay for the phone.

An employee of the blood bank told the Indian media that he became suspicious when the girl asked for money in exchange for donating blood.

“A girl approached us around 10 am. Initially we thought that she had come to take blood as it was a blood bank of the district hospital. But when she told us that she wanted to sell us blood, we were shocked,” said Kanak Kumar Das, blood bank employee.

However, the hospital staff immediately informed the child care department who reached the hospital.

The girl told that the phone will receive soon and she does not have enough money to pay for the phone.
