16 of student union arrested for attacking educational expo in Islamabad; one dead

ISLAMABAD: Sixteen members of a student union have been arrested for attacking an educational expo at an Islamabad university which has left one dead and more than a dozen others injured.
Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat has confirmed that 16 students of the group involved in attacking a peaceful expo had been arrested.

“Preliminary investigation reveals that a peaceful function was being carried out by one group but another group attacked the function resulting into a fight. Islamabad Administration and Police have taken full control,” said the Islamabad deputy commissioner.
He said one student of the International Islamic University Islamabad had died during the riot ran by the ethnic group of students.
“Police and Magistrates are on site. Rangers has been called. Compound is being searched. Anyone having info may plz call on 15,” Hamza Shafqaat said.
In-charge of three-day Mega Education Expo IIUI, Aadil Fiaz has hinted at involvement of members of the university administration in facilitating the violent students entering the university premises with weapons.
